Mariazeller Barockkrippe und Schatzkammern

For centuries, Mariazell has been a meeting point for pilgrims from all over the world. Many of them have offered votive gifts to the Mother of God as an expression of their gratitude or in requests for help in specific matters. These items are housed in the treasure chambers above the sacristies and are available for viewing.

Much was lost in the great fire or had to be melted down by state order. Today's collection consists of an impressive 3,200 preserved gifts, inviting visitors on a sacred art journey through the ages, which can be viewed alongside the artworks of the basilica itself or a cultural-historical exhibition regarding the place of grace.

The old Mariazell Baroque nativity scene has been completely renovated and is impressively presented in the tower chambers of the basilica.
