The NostalSkiTeam of the Winter Sports Museum has been organizing the “Grand Prix Nostalski” in Mürzzuschlag and in Steinhaus am Semmering since 1999. This nostalgic ski competition, which now takes place every two years, is very popular with the audience, as it takes them back to a time when skis were truly just boards and one zoomed over the meadows in Telemark, Christiania, or Quersprung.
Time and again, individual participants, but especially groups from Slovenia and South Tyrol as well as from all over Austria, come to compete in a ski-historical contest with Eschi skis, bamboo or wooden poles, laced leather shoes, and old clothing. The Grand Prix Nostalski combines competition and ambition with tradition and coziness.
The ski race will take place on January 23, 2027, further information will follow.
Everyone who can ski and enjoys moving can participate. If one does not own nostalgic ski equipment and clothing and still wishes to participate, there is the possibility to rent equipment at the museum.
