Geführte Wanderung über den Tonion

We start our tour in Fallenstein just before Gußwerk and hike uphill along scenic forest roads and paths to Tonionalm where we take a short break. From here, we follow a path past the Knochenschacht to the Toniongipfel (1699 m), the highest point of our hike. After a cozy break with a beautiful view, we continue towards Niederalpl, passing Sonntagskogel and several shafts and caves until we reach Hochschnäbltörl. From here, we follow an unmarked path through a charming landscape over Schneekogel until we meet the marked hiking trail again in front of Ochsenbodenalm. We finally reach the mountain pass at Niederalpl via Weißalm and Wetterinalm.

Travel by public transport: with RJ 655 at 6:00 a.m. from Graz Hbf, continue with bus 170 at 6:50 a.m. from Kapfenberg Bahnhof Return: with bus 189 at 4:50 p.m. from Niederalpl pass, continue with RJ 856 at 5:55 p.m. from Mürzzuschlag Bahnhof

Difficulty level: Alpine hike, surefootedness required, steeper ascents and descents, partly some scree, fitness required for about 6:30 hours of hiking time and 1150 meters of elevation gain.

Equipment: Hiking boots required, hiking clothing, rain protection, backpack, hat, gloves, possibly hiking poles, drink, snack, possibly stopping at Tonionhütte on the way and/or at the end of the tour.
