The legendary effect of the Mariazell stomach liqueur and the Mariazell herbal bitter has been known for generations. The unique blends of herbal extracts, processed according to the recipe by Cajetan Arzberger (1883) into three different elixirs, are a closely guarded secret.

Walter Arzberger, the current keeper of the secret: "Our great-grandfather, Cajetan Arzberger, was the first to be able to offer the soothing effect of herbs in the form of a stomach liqueur to the numerous pilgrims from across the monarchy in Mariazell."

The wonderful blend of 33 herbs still helps today with feelings of fullness, digestive tract disturbances, loss of appetite, and upset stomach. The careful extraction of roots, leaves, seeds, and fruits that are steeped together brings the raw materials for further processing into the well-known stomach liqueurs.
