Mödlingerhütte
Highly recommended
Situated against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Reichenstein´s rocky walls, the Mödlingerhütte rests on a scenic plateau. At an eleveation of 1,523 meters, a crisp mountain breeze awaits outside, while the scent of Steirergröstl and freshly baked pastries fills the air indoors. Accessible from Johnsbach village through the forest, from Gaishorn or from the neighboring Klinkehütte.
The alpine lodge is a popular spot for mountain bikers and hikers to socialize over a drink or meal. We also recommend a detour to Heldenkreuz for a breathtaking view of Johnsbach valley. Just watch out for the crevasses!
Mödlingerhütte
Info
The car is parked in Johnsbach or at the parking lot above Gaishorn and then it goes cheerfully up to the Mödlingerhütte. Or choose Klinke Hütte or Kaiserau as the starting point. Mountain bikers love the route from Gaishorn (and only from there!) and they all meet at the top for a culinary feast or a tryst with sweet temptations. And a glass of Gesäuse wine for the grown-ups and a Kracherl for the little ones is certainly also part of the party.
