Beautiful, shady path to the Kölblalm on the forest path back through the gorge !

The Kölblam is one of the oldest alpine pastures in Styria. The 900-year-old hut used to be a "Schwaige", as the bricked part with the ancient smoking kitchen indicates. Today the Kölblalm is run as an alpine pasture (snack station). It was awarded the "Bio-Alm" label in 2004 and is the only private alpine pasture directly in the Gesäuse National Park.

Parking Ebnerkreuzung

We start from the Ebnerkreuzung car park and walk along the forest road to the Ebner farmstead. Here we leave the road and follow the narrow path towards the forest after the farm. Under the cool canopy of leaves, the path leads steadily uphill and after about 30 minutes we reach a clearing where we can see the Kölblalm. We descend via the forest path through the beautiful gorge.

Sturdy hiking boots or good trekking shoes, as well as a hiking rucksack with appropriate contents (water bottle, first aid, hiking map, sun protection, snack, etc.). You should also be well prepared for a change of weather. Mobile phone for emergency call.

This trail is particularly recommended on a hot summer's day, as it leads exclusively under the canopy of the forest up to Kölblam.
