A varied hike with beautiful views and the chance to conquer more than one peak.
Drive from Oppenberg to the Fink parking lot. Take the forest road up to the Horningalm (1,542 m). From the alpine pasture, keep to the right toward the prominent gully descending from the northwest slope of the Schüttkogel. East of the gully, ascend through the sparse forest to the plateau and climb diagonally from left to right up the broad northwest slope until you reach the broad south ridge, then continue up to the summit. Descent follows the same route as the ascent.
For the Horninger Zinken: From the Horningalm, head east on flat terrain to the base of the steep southern summit slope. Continue east until you can turn left and climb steeply up to the eastern ridge, which narrows as it leads to the summit. Descend via the steep southern flank when snow conditions are safe

More information
We follow the Großbichler Forest Road until we reach the sharp curve—then we walk along the Horningbach stream to the Horningalm, where we can take the turnoff to the Horninger Zinken. Otherwise, continue toward the Horningsattel and Schüttkogel (2,049 m). Descent: approx. 300 meters in elevation. Then we head to the summit of the Grießkegerl. From there, we descend to the junction with the forest road and continue to the junction with the ascent route.
