FAQ / good to know
What is the schedule for the youth camp?
This event lasts for 6 days. It starts on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. and ends on Friday at 1:00 p.m. The supervision by our national park rangers is ensured during this period; if the youths are brought to the campsite before 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, the supervision is the responsibility of the parents.
Where will we sleep?
We have our "base camp" at the Forstgarten campsite in Gstatterboden, where we will be sleeping in the mattress dormitory. We will also spend time at the forest ranger camp – there we will sleep outdoors in a self-built campsite or, in case of heavy rain, in the Duck (wooden hut).
What will we eat?
We will prepare our meals together.
What activities will we have?
Be surprised! You can expect varied hikes, games and fun, as well as relaxing time in nature.
What equipment do I need?
You will receive an equipment list from us. Very important: sleeping bag and sleeping pad!
Can I bring my mobile phone?
Yes. Mobile phones are allowed and are mainly intended for taking souvenir photos. There are fixed mobile phone times for contacting home (depending on the schedule). In case of severe homesickness or in special situations, a call to the parents is also possible outside of these times. In urgent cases, the rangers are reachable by phone (depending on network coverage).
When will it be decided if the camp will take place?
On May 10, 2027, it will be decided whether enough registrations have been received for the camp to take place. After that, we will inform all registered participants.
What standards apply in the Gesäuse National Park regarding child and youth protection?
We consistently implement child and youth protection at our summer camps. We align ourselves with the guiding principles and the code of conduct of the Nature Friends Youth Austria. Our rangers are appropriately trained and commit to respect, appreciation, and responsible behavior in dealing with children and young people. More information
