Together on the way – experience nature as a family
Do you want to discover nature together as a family and experience new adventures? Spend three eventful days in the Gesäuse National Park, explore the area, overcome small challenges, and enjoy valuable time together.
This event is held in cooperation with the Nature Friends Youth Austria.
About the offer
Suitable for
Families with children up to 10 years; sure-footedness and average physical condition required for easy hikes (not just on walking paths).

- Trips in the region are not included and will be conducted with your own vehicles.

FAQ / good to know
What is the schedule for the family camp?
This event lasts 3 days. It starts on Fri at 11:00 a.m. and ends on Sun at 1:00 p.m. Our "base camp" is located at the campsite in Mooslandl, where we are accommodated in small wooden cabins. Right next to the campsite, there is a small swimming lake.
Where will we sleep?
Each family sleeps in their own small wooden cabin.
What will we eat?
For breakfast and one evening, we are catered by the Landgasthof Mooswirt. One evening, we will have a barbecue together. During the day, each family will provide their own snacks. The nearest shopping opportunities are in Landl (about 5 minutes by car) and Hieflau (about 10 minutes by car).
What will we do?
Let yourselves be surprised! You can expect a cozy introductory hike, a varied day trip, games and fun, as well as relaxing time in nature.
What equipment do we need?
You will receive an equipment list from us. Please remember to bring a towel and sleeping bag (or duvet cover) for the overnight stay in the wooden cabins.
Is the family camp only for parents and their children?
No, we do not define family that strictly. Young-at-heart grandmas, fit grandpas, godparents, or aunts and uncles are of course also welcome to join the children. Please note that an average physical condition is necessary for light hikes.
When will it be decided if the camp will take place?
On May 10, 2027, it will be decided whether enough registrations have been received for the camp to take place. After that, we will inform all registered participants.
What standards apply in the Gesäuse National Park regarding child and youth protection?
We consistently implement child and youth protection in our summer camps. We orient ourselves to the mission statement and the code of conduct of the Naturfreundejugend Österreich. Our rangers are accordingly trained and commit to respect, appreciation, and responsible behavior in dealing with children and adolescents. More information
