The walk to the Schillerkreuz is a short hike offering stunning views. The easily accessible forest path leads to a popular vantage point with magnificent views over Leoben, the Mur Valley and the surrounding mountains – ideal for a short break in the countryside.

From the car park at Häuselberg, the walk follows well-marked paths through mixed woodland up to the Schillerkreuz. After just a short walk, an impressive panoramic view of Leoben, the Mur Valley and the Gleinalpe opens up. The walk is suitable for families, leisurely walkers and anyone looking for a short walk with beautiful views. If you wish, you can combine this walk with other trails on the Häuselberg or head on to the Schillerhöhe.

Freeway exit Leoben-West: drive via the district Leoben-Hinterberg towards Leoben.

Freeway exit Leoben-Ost: via Kärntnerstraße to Leoben Leitendorf - direction Hinterberg.

The starting point is the car park at Häuselberg. From there, follow the signs towards Schillerkreuz. The route initially follows a wide forest track and then continues slightly uphill along a well-maintained path to the viewpoint. To return, simply follow the same route back to the car park.

Proper planning is essential before any trip.

Sturdy footwear is recommended

Packing your rucksack properly makes things much easier: pack heavy items first. Your water bottle should always be within easy reach in a side pocket. Anything you’ll need frequently, such as sunglasses, a camera or a hiking map, should go on top. An emergency kit, including blister plasters, belongs in every rucksack, and dressing in layers is always recommended!
