The theme trail forest nature trail/Pampichler-Warte/Kalvarienbergweg is located in the Erzberg-Leoben region.

Hike where you are rewarded with magnificent views of Leoben. The forest nature trail Maßenberg is to make clear the importance of the forest and describe the ecosystem forest.with starting point ruin Massenburg one walks through the stations of the forest nature trail. The trail is about 1.2 km long and includes 19 display boards showing the most important native tree species, their silvicultural management and use. Shortly before reaching the Pampichler-Warte inn, there is an opportunity to hike to the lookout station of the same name. There you will be rewarded with magnificent views of Leoben. From the Pampichler-Warte inn you continue to the Kalvarienberg, which lies between Göss and Leoben. At the highest point there is a chapel and three crosses that can be seen from afar. From there, there is a beautiful view of Leoben, especially of the districts of Göss and Donawitz. The panorama with the Gößeck and the Eisenerz Alps is impressive.

Exit Leoben Ost or Leoben West - direction Zentrum - Kärntner Straße - St. Jakob Church
At the foot of the Massenburg around the church of St. Jacob there are some free parking spaces.

From the start Massenburg it goes about 30 minutes through wonderful mixed forest up to the inn Pampichler-Warte. The forest nature trail shows 19 stations and is about 1.2 km long to the inn. It takes about 15 minutes from the inn to the viewing platform of the same name, past the Lutz-Brünnl. Afterwards you return to the inn, from where you continue to the wetland biotope Sebanzteich. The forest nature trail forms the first part of the Kalvarienbergweg. The Pampichlerweg continues to the highway underpass to the Windischbergweg until you reach the Kalvarienberg, the Kalvarienkirche and the 3 crosses after about 40 minutes. The tour ends at the Gösser Straße.

Planning your desired tour properly in advance is a must.

Sturdy shoes and canes are recommended.
Proper backpacking makes many things easier: pack heavy things first. The water bottle should always be within easy reach in a side pocket. All things that are often needed such as sunglasses, camera or hiking map belong on top. An emergency kit including blister plaster belongs in every backpack.
Clothing according to the "onion system" is always recommended!

Hungry for a Styrian snack? At the Pampichler-Warte inn you can enjoy home-style cooking, ribs or fried chicken, and in summer there is often live music on offer.

Take the train to Leoben main station. After that there are regular buses that stop at the Jakobikreuzung, e.g. buses to Lerchenfeld, Niklasdorf or Bruck an der Mur.
