Mugelrunde MTB LE 01

Starting at the traffic circle in Göss, you start the beautiful mountain bike tour. Via the Kaltenbrunnerstraße you cycle past the pilgrimage chapel Maria Kaltenbrunn and after a few meters on an asphalt road you reach the small Gössgraben! From here it goes slowly uphill, the route runs from now on mostly on a very well prepared gravel road. Through the dense forest, left and right of the road, it is always pleasantly cool in summer. On the route to the Mugel is also the Stadlmaier Alm, where you can stop for a snack. The middle section consists of partly steeper sections, the last meters up to the summit cross are then somewhat flatter again. Shortly before the summit there are always good opportunities to enjoy the great panorama. Once you reach the summit, treat yourself to a snack at the Mugelschutzhaus before continuing downhill towards Niklasdorf. Here you cycle along the Murradweg R2 back to Leoben.

This route is recommended for trained mountain bikers.

- Ride only a technically perfect bike!

A few tips for safe mountain biking:

Check your bike after every tour air pressure, spoke tension and brake pads.

The helmet belongs to every mountain bike tour.

Consider in advance what equipment you need: warm clothing, rain and wind protection, repair kit and first aid kit belong in the backpack, as well as a charged cell phone.

On the way to Gössgraben you will pass the Maria Kaltenbrunn chapel. The small pilgrimage chapel is hidden and romantic in the Gössgraben. It was built at the beginning of the last century and is still visited by many people as a magical place of power for a quiet devotion or simply to recharge their batteries.

Refreshment facilities: Landgasthof Erlsbacher, Stadlmaier Alm, Mugelschutzhaus, Hotel and Restaurant Brücklwirt. Afterwards you can end the day at Leoben's main square. Restaurants, cafés and many stores are waiting for you here.

Take the bus Leoben line 2, get off at the stop "Stift Göss".From the bus stop it is about 5 minutes to the start of the mountain bike trail in the small Gössgraben.
