At the request of Daniela Jeide, the internationally renowned poet, translator and novelist Matthias Göritz developed the project of three poetry vending machines in Ausseerland, workshops and literary events as part of the European Capital of Culture year.
Göritz is now kicking things off by presenting his own literary work in a reading and discussion at the Wasnerin. His latest, critically acclaimed novel, "Die Sprache der Sonne" (C.H. Beck 2023), takes us to Istanbul, while his fourth volume of poetry, "Spools" (Wallstein 2022), travels to the inner world.

Matthias Göritz is a poet, translator and novelist. He has published four volumes of poetry (Loops, Pools, Tools, and Spools), four novels, including The Brief Dream of Jakob Voss (2005), Parker (2018) and The Language of the Sun (C. H. Beck 2023), and three books of novellas, accompanied by works by international artists. He teaches at Washington University in St. Louis and has translated works by John Ashbery, Rae Armantrout, Mary Jo Bang, Max Porter, Boris Pahor and Aleš Šteger, among others. Göritz's work has received numerous awards, including the Hamburg Literature Prize, the Mara Cassens Prize, the Robert Gernhardt Prize, the William Gass Award and most recently the International Pretnar Award 2022. Göritz's own books have been translated into numerous languages.

From 10 May to 4 October 2024, the poetry vending machines will be located in the Kurpark Bad Aussee, Kurpark Grundlsee and Kurpark Bad Mitterndorf
