Time is breathing down your neck? Certainly not here! In Straden, people sometimes set the time according to the sundial.

Sundials invite you to take your time. Time to look at them, time to occupy yourself with them. The noiseless timekeepers adorn churches, house facades or can be found in gardens. Just as our rolling hills and quiet hiking trails invite mindful exploration, sundials are scattered throughout the landscape like pearls waiting to be discovered. The sundial on the Straden church wall dates back to 1521 and shows the true local time. Straden is located in the heart of a region with the most hours of sunshine in Austria. With the construction of a sundial, old cultural heritage is kept alive. It reflects the style and creativity of its builder and can outlast generations. Today, the Straden sundials are a symbol of sunny Straden and pausing in a hectic time.

Proper backpack packing makes many things easier: Pack heavy things first. The water bottle should always be within reach in a side pocket. All the things that are often needed, such as sunglasses, camera or hiking map, belong on top. An emergency kit, including blister plasters, belongs in every rucksack and it is always advisable to dress in layers.
