Fürstenfeld has a size of 6,858 hectares and has consisted of the cadastral communities Fürstenfeld, Altenmarkt, Speltenbach, Stadtbergen, Übersbach, Ebersdorf, Hart, Rittschein, Aschbach, Ruppersdorf, Kohlgraben, Söchau and Tautendorf since January 1, 2015.

The town of Fürstenfeld is located at 276 meters above sea level. The distance to Graz is 56 km and to Vienna 156 km.         

Geographical location

Fürstenfeld is a town in Eastern Styria in the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district and lies on the border with Burgenland. The town is crossed by the Feistritz river. The neighboring municipalities are Bad Blumau to the north, Großwilfersdorf to the northwest, Söchau to the west, Unterlamm (district of Southeast Styria) to the south, Bad Loipersdorf to the southeast and Rudersdorf (district of Jennersdorf) to the east. The nearest freeway is the A2 Südautobahn (exit Ilz-Fürstenfeld), the nearest airport is Graz (57 kilometers away). The distance to the Hungarian border (near Heiligenkreuz) is 17 kilometers, to Slovenia (border Bonisdorf) it is 31 kilometers.
