Pistorkaserne

The so-called Pistorkaserne at Main Square 30 houses frescoes by Johannes Aquila in the basement of the courtyard.
The artist from Radkersburg is considered one of the earliest art-historically notable names in Central Europe.
His work is evidenced by the frescoes in the churches of Velemér (H), Turnisce (SLO), Martjanci (SLO), and Fürstenfeld (A).
The barrel-vaulted room was once completely adorned with frescoes.
On the north wall, scenes from the legend of Pyramos and Thisbe can be seen; on the opposite wall, the siege of a city and a battle are depicted.
