Elise's Garden is the nature-oriented herb garden of herbal educator and dietitian Martina Schmidt. In her herb walks and workshops, she combines traditional plant knowledge with scientifically based insights from nutrition and health – understandable, practical for everyday life, and with great joy in shared discovery.
On about 700 m², over 120 native wild and medicinal plants grow among perennials, roses, fruit trees, and nature-friendly habitats for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial creatures. As a “Nature in the Garden Styria” garden, biodiversity, native plants, and nature-oriented garden design are the focus.
During guided herb walks, workshops, and lectures, visitors discover the diversity of native plants. They learn to identify wild herbs safely, gain interesting insights into their use in the kitchen and home pharmacy, and delve into topics like natural cosmetics, smudging, or traditional herbal medicine.
Many activities invite participation: together, herb specialties are tasted, natural soaps, ointments, or other natural products are made, and nature is experienced with all senses. Thus, well-founded knowledge becomes a pleasurable nature experience with practical added value for everyday life. Elise's Garden is a place for discovery, enjoyment, and breathing space – for everyone who wants to experience nature more consciously, get to know native herbs, and take valuable knowledge home for everyday use.
