In the agricultural operations of the Weiß family, also known as Göllner, in Schonnerfeld near St. Anna am Aigen, there are two farms under one roof. While Waltraud and Ewald specialize in the cultivation and refinement of vegetables, such as tomatoes, peppers, and lamb’s lettuce, as well as elderberries and summer raspberries, young farmer Stefan Weiß focuses on organic berries. His main attention is directed towards organic mini kiwis (kiwiberries) and aronia.

On an area of about 1.3 hectares, vegetables are produced in protected cultivation (plastic greenhouse). In recent years, production has been intensified by operating year-round production in the plastic greenhouse (seasonal vegetables). This allows for the offering of lamb’s lettuce in the winter months, in spring there is Grazer Krauthäuptel and simultaneously in March, the cultivation of tomatoes already begins. In summer, in addition to the tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and chili are also offered in their own farm store. The family is very committed to a careful handling of the existing resources. They also continuously showcase innovative products, such as a kiwiberry smoothie, Vino Pomodoro (more on this below), or the tomato ketchup and tomato juice of the Young Wild Ones.

Vino Pomodoro - A Wine Made from Tomatoes

In 2017, young farmer Stefan Weiß - together with his cousin David Ulrich from the eponymous winery in St. Anna am Aigen - took a bold step: the production of a wine that is entirely made from ripe tomatoes. The fascinating, bright yellow-green color amazes every wine connoisseur. South fruit aromas, accompanied by finely spicy scent notes, are an experience for the nose. The "tomato wine" is suitable as an aperitif, with creamy soups, with spicy cheese, savory pastries, or for enhancing dishes in the kitchen.
