St. Anna am Aigen is picturesquely nestled in the southeastern part of the Styrian hill country, right in the heart of the Thermen- & Vulkanland. It is bordered in the west by the Stradner Kogel, the highest elevation in southeastern Styria, and in the east by the green border with Slovenia. This part, close to the border, is an insider tip among nature lovers, because the "Höll" has been preserved in its original state and is part of the Natura 2000 area. In the south, the border shows the imposing Mother Anna Church, visible from afar.
A popular excursion destination is the approximately 40 m high lookout tower in Frutten, which is located directly on the hiking route "From Glacier to Wine" and offers a tremendous view beyond the borders of southeastern Styria. Another highlight of St. Anna am Aigen is the Gesamtsteierische Vinothek, which invites visitors to taste wines from all over Styria and is a popular destination for cyclists on the Weinland Steiermark bike tour. As a complement to the Gesamtsteirische Vinothek, a wonderful circular trail leads through the adjacent Patenschafts- und Erlebnisweingarten. In addition, there are also museums worth exploring in St. Anna (motorcycle and technical museum as well as a bee and agricultural museum). St. Anna am Aigen is widely known for its themed hiking trail "Wine Trail of the Senses" - the various stations engage all the hiker's senses in harmony with the lovely landscape, wine and regional culinary delights.
