Almost flat hiking trail without difficulties with a length of about 5 km.
You walk almost level, first on the municipal road, through the upper part of Markt Vorau, until you turn into Kammerholz, a quiet piece of forest (insider tip: Schwammerlwald). Then you return to Markt Vorau.

Vorau is located in the East Styrian hill country at an altitude of between 470 and 1248 meters.

From Vienna: A2 exit Pinggau - Rohrbach-Vorau
From Graz: A2 exit Pinkafeld or Hartberg - Rohrbach - Vorau

- We start either from the Sparkasse in Vorau or the town hall just above and follow the marked trail no. 5 to the Faustmann Cross
- Then we turn left towards Riegersberg. At the next fork in the road, we turn right into Kammerholz, keep going in the same direction and come to the Haberlerkreuz
- There you can make a detour to the Kuchlbauer cider farm.
- Afterwards, we walk back to Vorau.

A few tips on correct and fair behaviour in the forest: (Source: www.bundesforste.at )Hikers should avoid visits to the forest about 1.5 hours before sunrise and after sunset, as wild animals are particularly active during this time.Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts etc. have no place in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave any rubbish in the forest.Camping and lighting fires are strictly forbidden in the forest!In principle, every person is allowed to pick 2 kg of mushrooms and berries per day for personal use. It is only prohibited if the forest owner expressly forbids it. Small backpack with water bottle (+ provisions)

Route description
Before starting the hike, check the possibilities for refreshments, including opening times, or pack appropriate food and drink.
We recommend a visit to Vorau Abbey and the open-air museum.
