Accessible trails in Eastern Styria
Experience nature without barriers
Easy-to-walk, barrier-free paths on firm surfaces are ideal for people who need support when walking or who use a wheelchair. Families with a buggy or stroller also benefit from these comfortable walking and hiking routes.
Whether across floating larch timber walkways, along paved side roads or on wooden boardwalks, the accessible walking and hiking trails in Eastern Styria follow level, asphalted or otherwise firm surfaces. They are wide enough for wheelchairs, walkers and strollers, allowing people to pass each other comfortably. The routes are also easy to access, with barrier-free connections from nearby car parks.
The accessible trails of Eastern Styria lead to some particularly beautiful places. Lake Stubenberg can be circled on a route of around 3 kilometres, as can Lake Teichalm. Directly adjoining the lake is the equally accessible Teichalm Moor Nature Trail.
Other scenic routes include the Hinterbrühl trail along the Saifen stream to the bathing pond in the Pöllauer Tal Nature Park, as well as “Voll die Bohne” in St. Ruprecht an der Raab, a route dedicated to the region’s famous scarlet runner bean. Many paths in the parks and green spaces of Weiz, Hartberg and Gleisdorf are also largely free of obstacles.
