This section of the route is the connection route from St. Kathrein/Offenegg to Brandlucken.

The Weiz Almenland Cycle Tour connects the district capital of Weiz with the Almenland. With this tour, a seamless cycle path connection was created from the Hungarian border town of Szentgotthárd (Raabtalradweg) to the Almenland.

The district capital of Weiz is located in eastern Styria and is very easy to reach via the A2 motorway from Vienna (approx. 2 hrs) and Graz (approx. 30 min).                                                             
  • Arrival from Vienna and from Graz:

On the A2 coming from Vienna and from Graz, take motorway exit 161 / Gleisdorf West in the direction of B54/B64. Follow the B65 / Gleisdorfer Bundesstraße until you reach the B54 / Wechselbundesstraße. At the roundabout, take the second exit north to the B64 / Rechberg-Bundesstraße. After approx. 15 km you will reach the town of Weiz.

  • From Graz via the main road: Take Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Kai and Wickenburggasse to Jahngasse / B67a. Follow the B72 to Weiz and take the exit towards Weiz -West.

Starting from St. Kathrein/Offenegg, the route continues via Kircheben to Oberhollersbach and Lacken up to the Brandlucken, where you can take a rest at cosy inns and enjoy the magnificent view.

  • Beware of working machines, wood or potholes on the road, grazing livestock and vehicle traffic (forest roads are working areas and workplaces)!

  • Sporty clothing is required! Bicycle helmet! Elbow and knee pads if necessary, back and shin protectors, mountain bike shoes

  • A basic set of tools and accessories - such as spare inner tube, repair kit, wrench/puller, air pump - never hurts.
  • Don't forget rain protection, sunglasses and a water bottle, as well as
  • Bike map, pocket knife, headlamp, cell phone holder for the handlebars if necessary, reflectors
