To all nature enthusiasts who also want to be sporty on the road! In Fischbach starts the signposted Fischbacher-Alpen-Tour for all who want to discover the "ups and downs" of the area around Fischbach and St. Kathrein.

The Fischbacher Alpentour is a varied and partly very demanding route, which probably includes everything that makes a real MTB an experience. Starting from the towns of Fischbach at 1000 m, or St. Kathrein / Hauenstein at 820 m above sea level, the tour has the most diverse characters. Past romantic mills, farms, alternating shady forest paths and magnificent panoramic views.

This mountain bike route is oriented in the area of Roseggers Waldheimat and belongs to the only officially signposted MTB - route in the tourist region Joglland - Waldheimat. The many entry points, such as from the Alpl, the many inns and private quarters in the villages or along the route invite the biker to a rest or accommodation.

The Fischbacher Alpen-Tour is signposted with boards of the same name.

From Vienna via the A2 Südautobahn highway and the S6 Semmering expressway to the Kindberg exit. Here through the Stanzertal valley on the Schanzsattel-Landesstraße L114 to Fischbach.From Graz via the Weizer-Bundesstraße B72 to Birkfeld and from here via the Schanzsattel-Landesstraße L114 to Fischbach.

From Linz/Salzburg/Munich via the Pyhrnautobahn A9 and the Semmering-Schnellstraße S6 to the Kindberg exit. Continue as above.

We start at the village square in Fischbach
We go down the forest road for 5-10 minutes until we reach Oberdissau
We follow the signs until we reach the country road
We leave the main road after 100 m
We turn left in the direction of Falkenstein
Cross two bridges, turn right and then immediately left to the "Hauswirtshofer" estate.
Behind the estate we cycle the steep way uphill to the quarry.
Now we cycle downhill to the cycle path R8
We cycle along the cycle path to Ratten, but before the Horn company we turn left to St. Kathrein.
In Kathrein we turn left after the Café Dorfplatzl into the Eggschmiedgraben
We pass the sawmill
At the crossroads take the road after the stream and continue to Ziesel Anger.
From the Ziesel Anger we drive to the Waldtoni hut and continue on the asphalt road to the Hauswirtshofer estate.
From there we take the same way back to Fischbach.

Use the cycle paths at your own risk!

Beware of working machines, wood or potholes on the road, grazing livestock and vehicle traffic (forest roads are working areas and workplaces)! A few tips on correct and fair behavior: Cycling and mountain biking in the forest (oesterreich.gv.at)

Cyclists should avoid visiting the forest approx. 1.5 hours before sunrise and after sunset, as wild animals are particularly active at this time.

Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts etc. have no place in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave any garbage in the forest.

Camping and making fires is strictly forbidden in the forest!
