The stage of the touring mountain bike route “Der große Jogl” leads from Fischbach via Birkfeld, Strallegg, Wenigzell and Miesenbach to Vorau. 
The route leads through the picturesque landscape of the Joglland forest home. There are numerous places to stop for a break along the way. 
At around 193 kilometers and 5413 meters in altitude, “der große Jogl” is one of the longest continuous cycle tours in Styria. The tour leads along forest and meadow paths, forest roads and various road sections to the most beautiful places, most interesting excursion destinations and highest peaks in the region.

A special service along the tour “Der große Jogl” is the luggage transport - simply cycle carefree, without any annoying extra luggage. While you are on the road, your luggage will be taken to your next stage destination (by 17:00 at the latest).

From Vienna, take the A2 Südautobahn highway and the S6 Semmering expressway to the Kindberg exit. Here through the Stanzertal valley on the Schanzsattel-Landesstraße L114 to Fischbach.
 
From Graz via the Weizer-Bundesstraße B72 to Birkfeld and from here via the Schanzsattel-Landesstraße L114 to Fischbach.
 
From Linz/Salzburg/Munich via the Pyhrnautobahn A9 and the Semmering-Schnellstraße S6 to the Kindberg exit. Continue as above.

  • From Fischbach we cycle to Birkfeld
  • From Birkfeld we cycle approx. 4 km on the Feistritztalradweg R8 and turn right to Strallegg
  • We ride past the town center in the direction of the ski lift
  • After the Posch snack station, we keep right and cycle towards Wenigzell
  • We start in Wenigzell and cycle past the church to the “Toter Mann” junction 
Now there are two options:
  • 1. we ride to the wild meadow
  • 2. we ride comfortably through the center of Miesenbach.
  • Now we continue to the Schloffereck
  • From the Schloffereck we ride to the Kreuzwirt inn
  • From there we continue to the Masenberg

Fair play rules for cyclists
  • Plan your tour carefully!
  • Check your bike before you set off!
  • Always ride with the right protective equipment!
  • Always ride with a helmet!
  • Don't forget all your equipment (repair kit, first aid kit, etc.)!
  • Only ride on marked paths!
  • Observe the road traffic regulations!
  • Observe driving bans and keep to opening times!
  • Control your speed!
  • Leave no tracks!
  • Respect other nature users!
  • Show consideration for animals (only ride in daylight & close pasture fences)!
  • Avoid noise and garbage!
  • Use the cycle routes at your own risk!
  • Beware of working machines, wood or potholes on the road, grazing livestock and vehicle traffic (forest roads are working areas and workplaces)!
 
A few tips on correct and fair behavior:
Cycling and mountain biking in the forest (oesterreich.gv.at)

Cyclists should avoid visiting the forest approx. 1.5 hours before sunrise and after sunset, as wild animals are particularly active at this time.
Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts etc. have no place in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave any garbage in the forest.
Camping and making fires is strictly forbidden in the forest!
