Short ski tour from the Pfaffensattel car park up to the Alois-Günther-Haus and back again.
From the Pfaffensattel car park, you can either take the Forsteweg trail or walk up through the forest to the Stuhleck summit cross. The tour should be planned on sunny days and the wind strength should be taken into account in the weather forecast!
It is also essential to pay attention to the avalanche warning level, even if it is an easier tour, it should never be underestimated.
ATTENTION: The ski tour is only possible with sufficient snow!

Coming by car from Vienna: via Südautobahn - Semmering - exit Steinhaus am Semmering - direction Rettenegg/Birkfeld - Pfaffensattel
Coming by car from Graz: Via A2 motorway - Gleisdorf exit - B64 in the direction of Weiz - B72 in the direction of Anger - Birkfeld - Ratten - Rettenegg - Pfaffensattel
- Easy variant:
- Start - Pfaffensattel car park
- Follow the forest path up to the Alois-Günther-Haus
- You can choose the easy option again and take the forest path back
- More demanding variant:
- Follow the forest path for a short distance After approx. 200m you can turn right - follow the path
- Short steep ascent
- Keep right on the forest path
- After approx. 100m, turn left and follow the path to the plateau
- Continue across the plateau to the Alois Günther Haus, which can be seen from afar
- The summit cross is located behind the house
- You can either return via the forest track or take the same route as the ascent
A visit to the nearby Forellengasthof is highly recommended! Here you are served local trout cooked in every style.
