This HWW hiking route is part of the Wechselland Historical Long-Distance Hiking Trail (HWW), which tells the story of Wechselland along more than 100 HWW stations. More information can be found at www.wechsel-wandern.at.

This extremely extensive HWW hiking route takes you back to the time when the Romans ruled over Wechselland for 400 years. Along the HWW hiking route, you will come to all those HWW stations that have a historical connection to Roman times, such as the Tempelleiten Chapel HWW station, which also focuses on Roman-era turf ore mining. The HWW hiking route leads from the Lebing/Römergrab HWW station to the Römerhütte HWW station and from there via Dechantskirchen, Ehrenschachen, Sinnersdorf, Sparberegg and Götzendorf to the Götzendorf Roman grave. At the Götzendorf/Römergrab HWW station, you will learn about the special features of the find.

Arrival by car
From Vienna

Take the A2 highway to the Pinggau exit.
At the traffic circle, take the third exit in the direction of Pinggau.
Turn onto the B54 towards Hartberg and follow the road until the Rohrbach an der Lafnitz exit.
After the municipal office in Rohrbach, take the 3rd exit in the direction of Eichberg.
Then follow the signs to Lebing.

From Graz

Take the A2 highway to the Hartberg exit.
Turn off at the first traffic circle in the direction of Hartberg.
Then follow the signs to the B54 in the direction of Rohrbach an der Lafnitz.
After the municipal office in Rohrbach, take the 3rd exit in the direction of Eichberg.
Then follow the signs to Lebing.

The tour is not signposted throughout. Route guidance with app recommended.

We recommend a visit to the cozy snack station Fernblickhütte in Sparberegg.
