Relaxing winter excursion along the Fischbach.

Beautiful and varied circular trail: snow-covered forest, partly frozen stream splashing under the ice and places with great views.

From Vienna via the A2 Südautobahn highway and the S6 Semmering expressway to the Kindberg exit. Here through the Stanzertal valley on the Schanzsattel-Landesstraße L114 to Fischbach.

From Graz via the Weizer-Bundesstraße B72 to Birkfeld and from here via the Schanzsattel-Landesstraße L114 to Fischbach.

From Linz/Salzburg/Munich via the Pyhrnautobahn A9 and the Semmering-Schnellstraße S6 to the Kindberg exit. Continue as above.

Fischbach, village square (free)

Our starting point is the village square in Fischbach - from there we walk (without snowshoes for the time being) towards the Fischbach bathing pond
We leave this behind us and continue - probably easier with snowshoes - on a snow-covered forest floor along the stream to Angerkarl
Here we turn onto path no. 17 towards Hofbauer until we reach path no. 10
On the Fischbacher Spazierweg we then take a paved path (without snowshoes) with a wonderful view of the high-altitude climatic health resort of Fischbach via the Riedlerhof back to the starting point

A few tips on correct and fair behaviour in the forest: (Source: www.bundesforste.at )

Hikers should avoid visits to the forest about 1.5 hours before sunrise and after sunset, as wild animals are particularly active during this time.

Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts etc. have no place in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave any rubbish in the forest.

Camping and lighting fires are strictly forbidden in the forest!

Route description

Before starting the hike, check where you can stop for refreshments, including opening times, or pack suitable food.

Snowshoes

In winter, the bathing pond becomes your ice skating rink. Please bring your ice skates - ice skating is a great sport for young and old when the temperatures are right and the ice is nice.
