In our farm tour, you can discover the fascinating differences between llamas and alpacas. These fluffy animals
are members of the new world camelid family. Despite their similarities, there are exciting differences that make each animal unique.
Llamas are larger and more robust. With their impressive physique and strength, they are often used as pack animals. Their rather calm and self-confident nature makes them perfect companions for hikes and tours. Llamas have a long neck and larger ears, which give them a vigilant expression.
Alpacas, on the other hand, are smaller and have softer, finer wool that is particularly sought after. They are friendlier and more curious, making them popular animals for interaction with humans. With their fluffy appearance and gentle eyes, alpacas are the true cuddle animals of the two.
Whether you prefer the versatility of llamas or the gentleness of alpacas – both animals enrich every encounter with their unique personality!

The Ganster family lives in the picturesque surroundings of Schönau in the Pöllauer Tal nature park and would like to share their passion and love for alpacas! The alpacas feel comfortable in the lush, mineral-rich meadows from the very beginning. Daily, personal contact with the animals is particularly important to the family, as each alpaca is unique in its expression and character.
