Styrian Flower Road

The Styrian Flower Road is located in the green heart of Austria - Styria, more precisely in Eastern Styria. There, 10 municipalities, all of which have already been awarded in the Styrian State Flower Decoration Competition, have come together to represent the most blooming experience street. The member municipalities are St. Kathrein am Offenegg, Pöllauberg, St. Jakob im Walde, Strallegg, Wenigzell, Vorau, Waldbach-Mönichwald, Fischbach, St. Lorenzen am Wechsel, and Hartberg.

The Flower Parade takes place in one of the towns of the Styrian Flower Road every 2 years. Numerous lavishly decorated flower floats then parade through the event location.

As part of the Flower Parade, the royalties of the Styrian Flower Road are also elected, who represent the Styrian Flower Road at various events, celebrations, and openings.

The State Flower Decoration Competition of Styria takes place annually and impresses with the floral splendor of over 30,000 participants. Throughout Styria, public places, traffic islands, gardens, facades, and balconies are lavishly decorated with flowers to receive one of the coveted awards.

The State Flower Decoration Competition is organized by the Styrian Association of Gardeners and Nurseries as well as the Tourism Department of the State of Styria.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the death of Archduke Johann, who was particularly committed to the preservation of nature in Styria, the Styrian State Flower Decoration Competition was held for the first time in 1959.

Inspired by his famous example, the competition aims to motivate the design of the unique Styrian natural landscape with flowers, trees, and shrubs, thereby continuing to live up to the title “the Austrian Flower Land”. All Flora winners can be found here: Flower Decoration - Gallery
