Parish Church Mönichwald
Waldbach-Mönichwald
The Mönichwald parish church is the heart of the community!
The parish church of Mönichwald was consecrated in 1163 by Archbishop Eberhard II of Salzburg. The document is kept in the archive of the Augustinian Canons' Monastery in Vorau.
For 640 years, the monks of St. Benedict were the good shepherds of this community, sharing joys and sorrows with the residents. In 1803, the parish became part of the Diocese of Graz-Seckau, to which it still belongs today.
The current parish church is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul and was built in 1716.
