Pop therapy
The most beautiful hits of the 50s and 60s
Do you feel the same way?
You open the newspaper, turn on the computer, increase the volume on the TV, or switch on the radio and despair at the same moment, as you are being convinced on all these channels that the end of the world is imminent?
The war in Ukraine, Corona, climate change, pollution, nuclear tests in North Korea, American drone warfare, IS terror, refugee routes, migration, Fortress Europe, Syria, Libya, do-gooders, bad guys, Böhmermann vs Erdogan….
Do you sometimes long for the time when Mom, while ironing and surfing the blue-yellow wave on Radio Niederösterreich, sang along to the most beautiful hits of the 50s and 60s by Caterina, Vico, Connie and Peter, Udo and of course Peter the Great? When the future was only good and the past was in black and white? When one dreamed of faraway places, of Fernando, Alfredo, and Jose, awaited the arrival of the ship that was to come, or, all in love after a few glasses of Greek wine, left two tracks in the snow and then picked up two little Italians from the station?
Sometimes I feel that way, and that is why there is this special evening. Let us forget the worries of the world for a short while and surrender to our most fervent dreams - so we can re-engage with reality refreshed and strengthened afterwards! Schlager therapy so to speak.
And this is promised to you in advance: Politics, Florian Silbereisen, Helene Fischer, and Andreas Gabalier must stay outside! [Thomas Gansch]
