KÜLML COMM.ST 2026- Roland Neuwirth
Concert at Külml Castle
Roland Neuwirth returns with the radio.string.quartet and presents new interpretations of his songs.
Few musical genres feel as comfortable in the twilight as the Wienerlied. It is about love, but also about death; it is about hope, but also about the indomitable desolation of fate. In the Wienerlied, love becomes a torture, and death turns into a celebration. It doesn't get more twilight than this.
For decades, the Viennese musician Roland Neuwirth and his Extremschrammeln were the figureheads of modern Wienerlied, with great respect for the cultural heritage of the genre. After the end of the Extremschrammeln, Neuwirth could endure only 19 months and four days without making music. But this time, the musical journey led to entirely different regions. Together with the "radio.string.quartett," which feels extremely comfortable in all forms of classical and popular music, Neuwirth creates music that goes far beyond the Wienerlied but ultimately returns to where everything ends: in Vienna. Let yourself be enchanted and challenged at the same time.
