He's doing slapstick with language again. Verbal jiu-jitsu. Fine edge and so on, anyway - but it's all just self-defense, of course.
Since he was told that a monster lies dormant within him, Austria's most popular shaggy hairstyle bearer clings to his humor with teeth and claws. Only this way can he tame his fear long enough to embark on a search for the creature: It must be somewhere in there - right?
Berni Wagner:
Berni Wagner (b. 1991) grew up in Upper Austria and has lived in Vienna since 2010. In 2013, he won the Graz Kleinkunstvogel and has since been performing on cabaret stages across the German-speaking world, earning him the Austrian Cabaret Award in 2022 for his solo program “Galápagos.” In addition to solo performances, Berni Wagner can also be seen as part of the “Lange Nacht des Kabaretts” (2015/16), the collective “Das Magische Auge” (2021/22), and together with Sonja Pikart and Christoph Fritz in “GHÖST” (Austrian Cabaret Award 2024 for the best program).
Radio comedy formats featuring Berni Wagner have been broadcast on Ö3, FM4, and Ö1.Campus. ORF viewers know him as part of the guessing team on "Was gibt es Neues?", from “Pratersterne," and as a member of the "Kabarettgipfel" from the Vienna Stadthalle.
“Monster” is already Berni Wagner's fifth solo program.
