Welcome to the Comfort Hotel Steirerrast***!
Tradition, coziness, and warm hospitality have been at home in our establishment for more than 370 years. Even the coachmen knew back in 1644 that their horses were well taken care of at Steirerrast.
Thus, it was in 1927 that we, the Gartlgruber-Jagerhofer family, created a place for well-being, relaxation, and enjoyment in the midst of the beautifully scenic Eastern Styria.
With much love, heart, and enthusiasm, we warmly welcome our guests and invite you to fill the house with laughter together with us.

Our feel-good hotel Steirerrast offers not only a central location but also a great offer for nature enthusiasts and athletes. Various hiking and cycling trails invite you for a cozy evening walk by the pond next to our hotel park.
In our wellness area, you will find everything to let your soul dangle. Since this area is only open to our hotel guests, you can spend a peaceful afternoon here with a book in hand. To fully enjoy your vacation, we also offer massages, foot care, and cosmetics on the premises.
For our little guests, we have a fun animation program during the summer holidays with various activities such as pizza evenings, dart tournaments, water polo battles, and much more. In our hotel park, there is a large outdoor playground with a great view of the Steirer pond.

- Arrival: You can start your wellness vacation from 1:00 PM. You are welcome to enjoy lunch in our restaurant before that!
Arrival on Sunday is only possible until 3:00 PM.
- Departure: Our wellness rooms are available to you until 10:30 AM on the day of departure. You are welcome to enjoy our wellness oasis until 5:00 PM!
You can easily reach our wellness hotel by car, train, or bus.
We would be happy to personally pick you up from Hartberg train station! You only need to let us know a few days before your wellness vacation when you will arrive by train.
The bus stop is ideally right next to our hotel, so you can simply walk in!

The moving history of our hotel
Satisfied guests for many generations.
Amidst the picturesque backdrop of Kaindorf, our traditional hotel and inn rises like a timeless testament to hospitality. Travelers have been stopping by since the 17th century to recharge for their onward journey. The Steirerrast was first documented in 1644 as a coaching station for horse changes. Since then, this property has experienced countless stories and has served generations of guests with love and dedication. A tradition that we continue with pride and passion.The story of the legendary innkeeper Josef Kajetan Gartlgruber, who ran the establishment until 1927, is deeply rooted in the walls of our hotel. Even today, the people of Kaindorf know the tales surrounding the unforgettable innkeeper. The cheerful bachelor loved the cool blonde beer as much as he loved "cool blondes." Kajetan bought five marriageable ladies identical blouses. He then invited the chosen ones to his inn at the same time and asked each to wear the new blouse. The ladies bubbled like freshly tapped beer mugs when they were the cause of laughter throughout the whole inn. What they did with the mischievous Kajetan afterwards has not been passed down. In any case, he remained unmarried until his last day.
His legacy was continued by the grandfather of the current managing directors, Josef Gartlgruber, who directed the inn from 1952 onwards. His adventurous spirit led him on travels around the world, where he gathered inspirations that he infused into the continuous development of our inn. Soon, the gates of our house also opened to guests from Vienna, who enjoyed their summer refreshment here in the enchanting East Styria.In 1991, his daughters Angelika Gartlgruber and Gabriele Jagerhofer, along with their husband Karl, took over the operation together. Under their loving and careful leadership, the Steirerrast became a contemporary retreat for those seeking relaxation and gourmets. They cherish the legacy of their ancestors with dedication while at the same time refining it with modern amenities and contemporary comfort. Each guest is personally welcomed and cared for by them because for them, hospitality is more than just a profession – it is a calling.
And the next generation is already waiting in the wings: Their children, now grown, bring fresh air and new ideas into the family business. With shining eyes and a great deal of enthusiasm, they are stepping into the footsteps of their parents and grandparents, ready to lead the tradition of the house into a bright future.
