Easy cheating: this sanctuary is located in Upper Austria, yet seamlessly blends into the Gesäuse vibe. You hike up here from Ardning Alm or from Hall. The Rohrauerhaus is both: a fantastic place to spend the night and a fantastic place to fill your belly. Cheers to Upper Austria!

Well situated

A hut that lies at 1,308 meters on the so-called Pyhrgasgatterl in the Ennstal Alps must almost be a hiking and mountaineering hotspot. And that's where the Gesäuse comes into play: A very popular variant is the hike from the Ardning Alm hut over the Arlingsattel to the popular house in the neighboring province.

Via ferrata "Wildfrauensteig": Rohrauerhaus - Arling Col - Wildfrauen Cave (the via ferrata starts here, A to B) - Frauenmauer - Bosruck peak - traverse to Kitzstein peak (1925 m) - descent via Rossfeldboden to Ardning Alm Hütte in 6 hours
Großer Pyhrgas (2244 m): from Rohrauerhaus on trail no. 615 (Hofersteig) in 2,5 hours; descent on trail no. 614 to Hofalm or via Holzerkar via trail no. 616 to Gowilalm at 1375 m.
