Partly challenging tour with easy gradient hike and steep summit slope on a panoramic two-thousand-metre peak, in the touring area of Oppenberg of the Rottenmanner Tauern.

After following the forest road to the left for a while, we leave the forest road to the left after the Horninger Alm and follow the markings of the old path/trail up to the Grießkegerl level. From here, follow the path to the left until you reach the summit slope and the finish!

In Oppenberg stay left and take the first left again until you find a parking space after about 800m.

Bei der Abzweigung links hinauf Richtung Großbichler/Gernschwaiger finden wir den ersten Wegweiser zum Schüttkogel. Nach dem Gehöft Gernschwaiger folgen wir der Forststraße bis zur Horninger Alm. In einer Schleife und einem kurzen Steilstück steigen wir hinauf zum Grießkegerl. Weiter geht es über einen schönen Bergrücken auf den Gipfel dieses Aussichtsberges hinauf. Vom Gipfel aus können wir bei guten Sichtverhältnissen einen herrlichen Blick auf die umliegenden Gipfel in den Rottenmanner und Wölzer Tauern, das Tote Gebirge, die Haller Mauern sowie den markanten Grimming im Ennstal genießen.

A stop at the Grobbauer restaurant is recommended.

Oppenberg is difficult to reach from Rottenmann as there is no public transport.

Rottenmann can be reached by train with regional trains.

Rottenmann can be easily reached via the motorway. From there, signposts lead to Oppenberg.
