From Vienna: A1 Westautobahn exit Ybbs via Wieselburg, Scheibbs and Lunz/See to Göstling an der Ybbs continue in the direction of Palfau, at the Erzhalden junction turn off to Wildalpen.
From Vienna, Eisenstadt: Semmeringschnellstraße S6, near Mürzzuschlag onto the B23 Mariazeller Bundesstrasse and Mürzsteg and Wegscheid to Gusswerk and on the Hochschwab Bundesstrasse B24 to Wildalpen.
From Linz: A1 to Voralpenkreuz junction, A9 to Windischgarsten, Unterlaussa, Altenmarkt, Grossreifling, Palfau and Wildalpen
From Salzburg: A1 on A9 to exit Ardning/Admont, Gesäusebundesstrasse and B24 to Wildalpen
From Graz: A9 Pyhrnautobahn, exit, Traboch (near Leoben) via Präbichl/Eisenerz, Hieflau, Landl, Gams to Palfau at the Erzhalden junction turn off to Wildalpen.
100 m before the fork in the road, the mountain hike begins on the left.
The closer you get to the forest, the more you will see the yellow signs for the Hopfgartenrunde. Follow an alpine path uphill until you reach a wooden sign with the inscription Löwekogel. There you branch off to the right and follow the path up to the Löwekogel cross. In terms of views, the Löwekogel is truly a "giant" compared to its Hochschwab brothers. At the Löwekogel you can enjoy a wonderful view of Wildalpen and the mountains all around. A sunny vantage point and a bench on top!

You park near the Barbarkirche Wildalpen, there is a car park between the Volksschule and the Barbarakirche or you drive/walk over the campsite bridge in the direction of Hopfgarten and Holzäpfeltal, 100 m before the fork in the road the mountain hike begins on the left.
