More information
As far as the eye can see, waterfalls and streams bubble down the slopes along the Ardning Gorge. The forest road leads steadily uphill. Passing the imposing hunting lodge with its pond, the path continues for about 8 km. At the fork in the road at Pyhrgasgatterl, right on the border between Styria and Upper Austria, we cross the state border for a few meters and stop at the Rohrauerhaus. From Pyhrgasgatterl, the path then leads back via the Bacheralm and the Ardnungalm, where a second stop awaits. From there on, it's an easy downhill walk back to the starting point in Ardning. Alternatively, you can stay on the Upper Austrian side from the Rohrauerhaus and cross the Bosruck via the Arlingalm and the Arlingsattel. This alternative involves about 200 meters of elevation gain and roughly 3.4 km of walking distance.
