Guided tour through the Odelstein Cave

Living Earth History - Visit to the Odelstein Cave in Johnsbach

The Odelstein Cave in the back Johnsbachtal was declared a natural monument in 1931 due to its unusually rich mineral deposits. The 470-meter-long cave system contains significant iron, copper, and copper ore deposits that extend from the neighboring Erzberg through Radmer to Johnsbach. The Odelstein Cave became world-famous for its originally rich display of greenish-blue aragonite crystals. The Odelstein Cave is a unique natural jewel and invites an adventurous journey of discovery.
