Festival Sankt Gallen: Haydn und die Jazz
Program:
Cornelius Obonya reads and sings poems by the Scottish national poet Robert Burns, translated into Viennese by Dieter Berdel. These poems were not born in the safe parlor of the ivory tower, but at the beer tables of the taverns, in 18th century Scotland. Nikolai Tunkowitsch - violin, Bertl Mayer - harmonica, Peter Rosmanith - percussion and Peter Havlicek - contraguitar view the music composed by Joseph Haydn for these poems from a contemporary perspective, thus laying the perfect carpet for Obonya's moving and at the same time witty interpretations.
Performers:
Cornelius Obonya - vocals, reading
Peter Havlicek - contraguitar
Peter Rossmanith - percussion
Emiliy Stewart - violin
Bertl Mayer - harmonica
