The seminar provides knowledge about the significance of natural darkness and the impacts of light pollution on humans, animals, and ecosystems. The theoretical part presents forms of artificial lighting and their consequences for nocturnal species, plants, and our own biorhythm. Additionally, participants will receive organizational and educational impulses for successful night offerings. A subsequent excursion takes participants into the darkness, where methods of nighttime education will be tested and special sensory impressions experienced. The seminar demonstrates how valuable darkness is as a habitat and what measures contribute to its protection.
Objectives:
- Awareness of the issue of light pollution and the effects of artificial lighting on humans, species, and ecosystems.
- How can lighting in public and private spaces be improved.
- Overview of the conservation efforts of natural night in Austria.
- Ideas & methods for implementing nature education at night.
