Mödlingerhütte
Information
It was mountaineers from Mödling who planned an alpine base at the ridge of Treffnerboden as early as 1904. Seven years later, timber harvesting took place; using a saw, the building material was cut on site, and construction of the hut began. In 1914, the base could then be ceremoniously opened, welcoming the first mountaineers.
The location of the Mödlinger Hut is hard to surpass in terms of panoramic views: elegantly situated on the long ridge of Treffneralm, the hut offers several approaches. The classic ascent leads from Johnsbach in 2 hours. The transition to the Klinke Hut can be traversed in 2.5 hours, and for the very fast ones, a toll road leads far up from Gaishorn in Paltental (with 20 minutes of walking time remaining).
