Carbon footprint

Our carbon footprint is 6.70 kg per overnight stay. According to the specialist organization Viabono, this figure is among the lowest in the industry. We are certified with Climate Efficiency Class A under the Viabono standard. Our goal is to offer guests a climate-conscious stay, minimize CO2 emissions, and conserve resources.

A climate-conscious stay at Gasthof Schnabl

Viabono is a specialist organization for tourism sustainability certification that calculates a business's CO2 emissions based on its carbon footprint.

We have been addressing this challenge for years. Through targeted energy-efficiency measures, we have managed to reduce our business's CO2 emissions by a further 10% in recent years.

An overnight stay at Gasthof Schnabl generates just 6.70 kg of CO2. This corresponds to Viabono Climate Efficiency Class A.

Instead of merely offsetting emissions on paper by purchasing CO2 certificates, we invest directly on-site in prevention. We consciously avoid simple offsetting and focus instead on keeping our actual emission levels low—and reducing them further—in the long term.

We are already actively implementing these specific measures:

  • 100% green electricity from our own hydroelectric power plant
  • Heating provided by a wood-chip system and an air-source heat pump
  • On-site drinking water supply from our own spring
  • Sourcing and use of regional food products
  • Consistent use of recycled paper
  • In-house laundry service to eliminate the need for transport
  • Provision of refillable shower products in guest rooms
  • Use of an electric car for business trips
