The Wild MountainMautern in StyriaUp the mountain and into adventure - a varied programme awaits visitors to the Wild Mountain in Mautern.
The starting point for exciting experiences is the valley station. From there, there are several ways to get to the top:

- The Wild Mountain can be reached on foot via the forest hiking trail, passing numerous stations on the themes of wood, forest and nature.
- The chairlift takes passengers up the mountain in comfort and provides the first glimpse of some of the 300 Alpine animals.
- Families with pushchairs can take the park bus, which also allows dogs on a muzzle and lead.

Activities on the Wild Mountain
Once at the top, exciting activities await that are as varied as the panorama that awaits park visitors: Little explorers can experience a real Alpine safari with native animals on the Wild Mountain. Bears, wolves, lynxes, chamois, ibexes, deer, special goat breeds, donkeys, marmots and many other animals await visitors. The daily animal timetable includes feeding sessions with bears, wild cats, foxes and raccoons. From Tuesday to Sunday, impressive flying spectacles with birds of prey take place twice a day.The programme also includes a guided tour of the apiary. At the children's farm, children can even experience and observe the animals up close.

A true paradise for little adventurers awaits in the children's barn: three suspension bridges, a long tunnel slide, a room for climbing, playing and gymnastics, a craft and relaxation room - this is where they can really let off steam. And who hasn't loved landing their feet in the soft hay and getting a good dusting? Children can also experience this on the Wild Mountain: Hay hopping in the Kinder-Stadl.

The play park with metre-high slides, swings, merry-go-rounds and water games awaits active children. Partly subject to a fee.

Other animal experiences include tours under the full moon. If you want to slip into the role of an animal keeper for a day, the Wild Mountain offers a unique opportunity to do so. From as early as 07:30 in the morning, you can lend a hand. The list of tasks includes mucking out stables and assisting with feeding.

Culinary offer on the Wild Mountain

Once the hunger for adventure has been satisfied, it's time to delight the palate. The Steinbockalm is one of the Kulinarium Steiermark establishments and welcomes hungry guests with a regional gourmet programme: from hearty delicacies to sweet temptations, there is something for everyone. The lovingly prepared dishes are eaten either on the sun terrace or in the spacious parlour.

Down in the valley, the food is cooked up in the Bärenstube. And while the adults enjoy a coffee, the little ones can let off steam in the playground.

Exciting descentAfter an eventful stay on the mountain, an equally exciting return journey awaits. In addition to the hiking trail, the bus ride or the chairlift, the following options are available for the route down the valley: A specially designed go-kart, the mountain kart, is an adventurous way back down to the valley. In good weather, you can take the 1,200 metre-long summer toboggan run down the Wilder Berg in the Wiesengleiter.
