Erz, Klang und Zeitgeist – Eine musikalische Reise durch die Montanwelt
“Ore, Sound, and Spirit of the Times” combines music history and the development of mining around the Erzberg into an extraordinary concert experience.
Embark on a fascinating journey of discovery with "Metal, Sound, and Spirit – A Musical Journey through the Mining World," where the history of music and the development of mining activities around the Erzberg impressively merge.
On Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., Radwerk IV, Peter-Tunner-Straße 2, 8794 Vordernberg, invites you to a special concert evening. Influential musical compositions will be set against contemporary milestones in mining history, making the close connection between culture, technology, and regional history tangible. The starting point of this extraordinary musical journey is the year 1840, when the Styrian State Mining and Metallurgical School – the predecessor of today’s Montanuniversität Leoben – was founded in Vordernberg. This creates an exciting dialogue between historical developments and musical masterpieces.
The evening will be hosted by mining expert h.c. DI Günther Kolb. The musical program will be provided by the ensemble SAITENBLECH featuring Markus Pichler (Alphorn, Trombone), Michael Scherz (Bass Trumpet), Werner Legenstein (Tuba), Annemarie Pichler (Harp), and Franz Xaver Pöllabauer (Harp).
