The Austrian artist TOMAK is one of the prominent figures in the contemporary art scene. He lives and works in Vienna and is known for his multifaceted, often large-format works.
TOMAK's works combine painting, drawing, and screen printing into complex visual compositions. Content-wise, he often draws upon scientific, technical, or anatomical representations, which he combines with texts, symbols, and pop culture elements. This results in dense, sometimes unsettling visual worlds that challenge viewers to think.
The artist describes himself as the "Posterboy of Anti-Art" and consciously opts for provocation as well as a critical approach to societal norms and aesthetic expectations. His works have been shown in numerous museums and galleries both in Austria and abroad, and are regarded as a significant contribution to contemporary Austrian art.
