The rosy Olm – Art Forum Leoben
The Austrian artist TOMAK is one of the prominent figures in the contemporary art scene. He lives and works in Vienna and is known for his multilayered, often large-scale works.
TOMAK's works combine painting, drawing, and screen printing into complex image compositions. Content-wise, he often draws on scientific, technical, or anatomical representations, which he combines with texts, symbols, and pop culture elements. This results in dense, at times irritating image worlds that challenge the viewer to think.
The artist describes himself as the “posterboy of anti-art” and deliberately relies on provocation as well as a critical engagement with societal norms and aesthetic expectations. His works have been shown in numerous museums and galleries both domestically and abroad and are considered an independent contribution to contemporary Austrian art.
