Who can imagine actually walking on water …?
There is something fascinating about this myth of moving upright on water. And Leoben is considered the home of one of the most attractive water sports that comes very, very close to this myth – the SKIJAK sport!
The Mur has been regarded since the mid-1980s as the center and focal point for skijak. Home to the ASK RB Trofaiach, the oldest (and also the last) skijak club in the country and (most likely) in the world, it continues to raise the flag today with its new "water location" at Trabochersee.
The name "skijak" means the combination of "ski" and "kayak"; the kayak as a means of movement on the "liquid element" and the ski as an expression of the upright, sporty-elegant posture.
