"Local Heritage Museum 'Troadkastn'"

Taxes were stored in the Troadkastn, which today houses a local history museum, in the form of wheat, oats, and grain. Today, among other things, reconstructed copper smelting furnaces from the urnfield period can be seen inside.

The Urnfield period (between 1200 and 750 BC) is named after the practice of burning the deceased with clothing and grave goods on a pyre, with the ashes deposited in a clay vessel.

Due to the construction of the Pyhrn motorway, extensive preliminary investigations of archaeological sites were initiated in 1988 by the Federal Monuments Office. A hobby mineralogist from Mautern discovered slag in the area of Schloss Ehrnau, which was analyzed at the Montan University in Leoben. This prehistoric copper smelting site measuring 20 x 15m was subsequently found and excavated.
