Leobnerhütte
Vordernberg
The Leobner Hut is located at an altitude of 1,582 m on the eastern slope of the 1,910 m high Polster. It is the starting point for tours to the Polster, the Griesmauer, the TAC peak, the Hochturm in the Trenchtling massif, or to the Leobner Wall.
The hut was built almost 200 years ago as a miners' accommodation and is correspondingly simply furnished with rustic charm. 100 years ago, the building was converted by the Leoben section of the ÖAV into a tourist accommodation, which is how the hut received its current name.
The Leobnerhütte is easiest to reach via path 871 from Präbichl. At a leisurely walking pace, one can reach the destination in about 1.5 hours by following a simple mountain path through the forest and across alpine pastures.
The dedicated operators Sabine and Hermann serve their guests typical rustic dishes and place value on regional products wherever possible. For example, there is country bread with bacon from the region or homemade Kaiserschmarren.
For overnight stays in the hut, there is a mattress dormitory providing sleeping spaces for up to 20 people.
Sleeping space inquiries should be clarified directly with the hut operators by phone or email.
